European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme
The use case is developed as a decision support tool for the fisheries engaged stakeholders in the north-western part of the Black Sea. It will provide access to valuable information, such as favourable areas for specific species, in order to help fishermen to maximize the economic efficiency of their activities. The service directly addresses multiple categories of stakeholders, from individual fishermen, to mid-size and industrial fishing companies in Bulgaria and Romania.

Romanian fishing fleet operates under the jurisdiction of General Fishing Commission of the Mediterranean (GFCM), Area 37 – Mediterranean and Black Sea, Sub-area 37.4, Division 74.4.2, Geographical Subarea 29.
ILIAD make use of advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing and web-mapping technologies to offer users access to a wide variety of physical ocean parameters derived from Earth Observation imagery essential to identify potential fishing zones.
